Just to defend the choreographers involved in this,…. they’re all talented and hard-working people who will continue to create their own dances as they have always done. They weren’t being lazy or cheating. They, like me were curious. AI will never replace their instinctive creativity and talent and I doubt they would ever want it to. However, speaking as someone who has been processing dance scripts for many years, choreographer can take 10 minutes or 10 days to create a dance and I know the most challenging part for them is not the creativity it is always “preparing and checking the scripts” I wondered if, when and how AI might be used in the future and during our chats we just asked if AI could create a simple dance routine. To use specific resources from this site BUT, the key task was to test if it could prepare an accurate “script” using Linedancer format and terminology with section headings and the correct counts. In this little test AI did a reasonable job and for the sake of history I decided to publish it. It wasn't anything more than that. Hope this helps to explain things better. Betty.

Sadlu not the first computer generated one. For me its cheating and plain lazy. You stick what you want into GBT4 and Voila there is a dance in a few seconds. At lease this one is admitting it I expect quite a few that are being churned out arent, Will I teach it NO.

We believe, this to be the first dance created by Artificial Intelligence. August 2024. After the LDF Gathering -Jakarta a few choreographers decided to test the possibilities of using AI to create a Line Dance. THE DANCE We set the instructions for AI:- 1. Reference the Step Descriptions & Levels from WikI Dance on linedancerweb.com 2. Chose suitable steps for a Beginner level routine with 32 counts. 3. Follow the standard layout with section headings and step counts. The dance and script began to materialised before our eyes. We rejected some steps in one section and asked AI to find alternatives. It instantly amended the script until we were happy with the steps. THE TITLE We asked AI to suggest a title that had not already been used. It quickly search the databases and came up with a list of possible titles not previously used. THE MUSIC This proved more of a challenge. We asked for songs not used before or not used within past 10 years. AI made several recommendations (not all were a good fit by any means). We eventually settled on “You Make My Dreams” as being the best fit. THE FIRST AI DANCE. So this is how the first AI dance was created. We thought as a moment in history, it should be published for the record.
